We all know one fact that Breast Milk is the Best for the New Born Baby. But yet we have a huge population who give their babies Formula Milk. There can be multiple reasons for giving Formula Milk to babies. If its a Medical reason where the question is about the survival of the Baby, then we need to do what is best at for the baby and that may include Formula Milk. But if you have a choice and you can feed the baby with Breast Milk then their is no other Formula or Milk that is better than Mothers Milk.
Unfortunately many of the common foods given to babies today are very high in various carbohydrates, specially high in sugar. The baby foods contain carbohydrates which have no essential nutrients required for human survival. There is ample evidence that gluten containing grains like wheat, barley and rye can cause a range of health issues including leaky gut syndrome. Leaky gut syndrome has been responsible for development of variety of autoimmune conditions. High Fructose Corn Syrup is used often to sweeten beverages, HFCS is extremely harmful and is known to cause insulin resistance leading to type 2 diabetes and also is responsible for blocking the hormone leptin. Leptin is responsible for sending the signal to stop eating, without this signal the babies continue to remain hungry and over consume, creating ideal grounds for a fat baby which will be prone to metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes.
Sweet beverages, juices and excess fruit should be avoided, these offer little or zero nutrients compared to anumal products, natural fats, and dark green, leafy vegetables like kale or broccoli should be given to babies.
All the commercial Baby formulas or infant cereals contain anything between 30 -40 grams of carbohydrate, 5 - 10 gram of sugar of which 3-6 grams can be sucrose. These high percentage of carbohydrate & sugar have the capability to raise blood sugar and insulin concentrations, leading to obesity and Type 2 Diabetes. These formulas often have added vitamins, minerals and fats but these are available in their natural form to babies once they start eating nutrient dense food after 6 months.
